1. dont spend too much time with related work
2. if u have an idea, just start doing something in that direction, then check related work, then go back to designing the idea
- you should always implement very roughly the prototype to see if the idea is worth pursueing
3. sketching is the cheapest way of prototyping the idea
4. creating the physical model is still very important - prototype using simple materials, it doesnt need to compute, can be just styrofoam, cardboard, plastic sheets
